Hi
Does anyone play swamp? It is a fps and scavenger hunt mulitiplayer sort of game. I think it is awesome. If you do, what is your name?

Post 2 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Monday, 25-Mar-2013 9:53:20

I play Swamp, and I go by bassplayer on there.

Post 3 by play_girl (Generic Zoner) on Wednesday, 10-Apr-2013 5:07:18

I play swamp, and my name on there is Brea. Which is my real name by the way.

Post 4 by SilverLightning (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Wednesday, 10-Apr-2013 7:47:16

I play it, though I can't right now because I can't get it to run. I keep getting errors, but I'm trying to figure it out.

Post 5 by play_girl (Generic Zoner) on Wednesday, 01-May-2013 5:29:16

Hmmm why can't you get it to run? What version of windows are you running? Oh my name on swamp is distructor.

Post 6 by rusty81 (Zone BBS is my Life) on Tuesday, 07-May-2013 23:52:19

I'm phantom fox in there. am still at level1 though, I really suck at navagation using the mouse. I wish that they will make zombies easyer to hit, maybe make them a wider target for mouse user? and I can't seem to run the game in windows7. but over all, the game is really interesting and fun.

Post 7 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Wednesday, 08-May-2013 9:57:22

The game will run on Windows 7. Depending on your version, you may need to run either the 32 or 64.BAT.

Post 8 by rusty81 (Zone BBS is my Life) on Wednesday, 08-May-2013 21:10:53

it still doesnt work, it ses {cannot find the file specified}

Post 9 by rusty81 (Zone BBS is my Life) on Wednesday, 08-May-2013 23:29:35

I mean, when using the .bat file

Post 10 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Wednesday, 08-May-2013 23:50:34

Odd. Are you running the latest? There has been an update.

Post 11 by rusty81 (Zone BBS is my Life) on Thursday, 09-May-2013 0:53:19

yup i think. 2.9

Post 12 by rusty81 (Zone BBS is my Life) on Thursday, 09-May-2013 1:12:58

however, I got it running in my XP machine.
so any tips for improving my navigation skills and making the game easyer to play like for instance how to properly using the mouse? or geting in and out of the buildings? I keep on bumping on walls even when I use the tracker and the building beacon. and I find it hard to kill zombies unless they bite me first.
sorry for the newbie questions...

Post 13 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Thursday, 09-May-2013 2:22:17

Walking around can be a bit tough. I'll agree with you on that. But it's just like playing any other game, and you might want to adjust you6 mouse sensitivity. Fighting is fairly straightforward, point the mouse toward the sound of the zombie and click. But don't get surounded, that's where you're likely having issues.

Post 14 by dalekood (Veteran Zoner) on Thursday, 09-May-2013 20:49:33

Hi
There is a way to reconfigure your mouse using the keyconfig.ini file located within your swamp folder. As for fighting, try finding lots of armour, and use judgement if you hear a lot of zombies walking around. Also, chose your skills wisely, I find speed is a vary good skill to spend points on. Of, and if your worried about getting bitten, no problem, by and find lots of meds, and you know, shoot shoot shoot.

Post 15 by rusty81 (Zone BBS is my Life) on Thursday, 09-May-2013 23:33:52

aww, I spend my very first skill point for sneakiness

Post 16 by rusty81 (Zone BBS is my Life) on Thursday, 09-May-2013 23:37:13

thanks for the advice guyz, I really appreciate it.

Post 17 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Friday, 10-May-2013 6:55:26

You gain skill points when you level up, so don't worry.

Post 18 by maddog (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Sunday, 12-May-2013 9:54:13

Someone told me that there is no longer any coding being done for swamp. Is this true? It was apparently going to from now on be a what you have now is what you'll always get kind of deal. Bugs or otherwise.

Post 19 by rusty81 (Zone BBS is my Life) on Monday, 13-May-2013 23:33:34

oh, that would be sad if that hapends.

Post 20 by Animal metal (I'm a martian) on Tuesday, 14-May-2013 0:12:28

I think it is true

Post 21 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Tuesday, 14-May-2013 6:44:41

I am also going to agree with that, as I haven't seen any updates as of late. It's done.

Post 22 by rusty81 (Zone BBS is my Life) on Tuesday, 14-May-2013 23:21:53

aww, I hope it will not become an abandonware soon. I even bought a gaming mouse just to play it. :D

Post 23 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Wednesday, 15-May-2013 7:16:32

I never made that kind of investment, as I have a laptop and a trackpad which works just fine.

Post 24 by rusty81 (Zone BBS is my Life) on Thursday, 16-May-2013 23:36:20

not much an investment really. cause I only bought the cheepest I could find. + I could always give it to my brother when I'm done using it...

Post 25 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Friday, 17-May-2013 8:08:29

Well, I have always seen gaming mice around in stores, and they're not exactly cheap. But does it serve you well? What are it's features, and how responsive is it? I may buy a USB gaming mouse and see how it goes with my laptop.

Post 26 by rusty81 (Zone BBS is my Life) on Friday, 17-May-2013 23:47:42

well, I only bought the cheepest mouse from A4tech so it is just pretty basic in terms of functionality it has the usual left and right mouse buttons and a scroll wheel, but I notice that it is pretty responsive unlike the ordinary mouse that I tried.

Post 27 by Faial (Zone BBS Addict) on Saturday, 18-May-2013 11:13:05

~Yes it's true. Jeremy Kaldobsky who is the developer of the game said on the Audissey Mailing List that he will take a new job and no llonger will develop Swamp! It's a sad news but it's real!

Post 28 by maddog (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Saturday, 18-May-2013 11:15:07

Unfortunate. I usually don't like to play a game that isn't in constant development already, but this sounds like it won't even have any weekly, monthly or bi-monthly development. Which means what you have is what you get, bugs, loopholes and all.

Post 29 by Faial (Zone BBS Addict) on Saturday, 18-May-2013 11:20:47

Right! Sounds like it! It was a revolucionary game and a lot of fun to play allthough it made me nervous anytime I am killed I had to start from the scratch and find or buy all my weapons again! At same point it pissed me off so much that I never played again! Lol

Post 30 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Saturday, 18-May-2013 13:06:13

I wonder if he is going to hand the project off to another entity? Kevin of Dragon Apps, for example?

Post 31 by maddog (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Saturday, 18-May-2013 13:44:12

If he hands it off and development starts again, I will definitely reconsider playing. It was a fun time-waster when I didn't have anything else to do. Exploring the maps was always an interesting adventure, but I can't find any of the campaigns people are always talking about so I could play around with them.

Post 32 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Saturday, 18-May-2013 13:55:37

What exactly were the campaigns? I keep hearing about them, but never got into them. Mainly because high school has made me take a break from the game, and it is getting too boring to play.

Post 33 by dalekood (Veteran Zoner) on Thursday, 06-Jun-2013 4:16:09

Hi
Wow, did not expect this topic to be so big!! I'm so happy!! So, the campaigns are community made maps and such. You can do lots of things with them, including but not limmited to, going on missions, killing hords of zombies with certain guns just for fun, and even getting 1000000 skill points amd killing zombs, lol!! Yeh, aprone is not adding adything to swamp, not even a bug release. I have cut down on the playing of swamp and now mostly use it aas a chat client, but its still addicting. I don't like losing my stuff, and especially to bugs. The missions have become a whole lot harder, try going in the stores, and one of the greatest players died because his mini gun wasn't shooting because his computer was lagging really bad, had a nice kill streak of 70,000 + zombies.
Well, anyway, I wish that aprone would have stuck to the project, at least until he ceuld do all that he could do, yeh, there's probably going to be faults in the game, but I do think he ceuld fix some of the big bugs. I mean, all tge bug reports are just building up, and there all being annoyed. But I partly understand, if I were in his shoes, it might be hard.

Post 34 by maddog (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Friday, 07-Jun-2013 23:41:36

Can you post a link to the swamp community where the campaigns can be acquired? I haven't been able to find them on his actual website.

Post 35 by dalekood (Veteran Zoner) on Sunday, 09-Jun-2013 14:14:23

If I knew where they were, I'd tell you. Some things you might try, look on the audiogames forum, ask to see if anyone has any.

Post 36 by play_girl (Generic Zoner) on Monday, 10-Jun-2013 0:15:53

I first wanna say I love swamp! I love killing things, and swamp is awesome! I don't know why yall are bitching about the game, and all of issues. Aprone made the game for free. You pay nothing, unless you wanna donate to him. You get what you pay for, so since you pay nothing, you can't really bitch. I agree it would be nice if he wouyld fix some things, but you realize he has a day job, and he's working on another project. If yall are that worried about the game, and what needs to be fixed, e-mail aprone with your concerns, or complaints. If you are just bitching to fit in, shut the hell up, and move on. Just saying. Shoot lots of zombies.

Post 37 by dalekood (Veteran Zoner) on Monday, 10-Jun-2013 3:19:24

Can't do that, aprone is done with swa/p. And yes, he is wolking on an rpg, this one, I heard that you have to pay for the 3d headphones that were like $35. The reason everyone is complaining is because everyone is losing there stuff. I lost a keys when I logged out and diddn't start the quest. This didn't happen with a letter. I don't think anybodys complaining, we all love swamp, its one of the best games we have.

Post 38 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Friday, 14-Jun-2013 20:33:51

Um...Maybe it's just me, but I didn't see any bitching, at least not to the extreme that's being implied. also, I can't get Swamp to work on Windows 7, either. Both my desktop and laptop have 32 bit editions of Windows 7, and it won't run. I was thinking about trying it, since I need a new game to play, and I can't get Road to Rage to work, either, which would have been my other choice.

Post 39 by horror freak13 (Random Zoner) on Wednesday, 24-Jul-2013 13:15:27

I haven't started plaing Swamp yet, not sure where t get it from, but sounds very interesting. Can someone please post the url?

Post 40 by rusty81 (Zone BBS is my Life) on Thursday, 25-Jul-2013 1:24:01

Post 41 by dalekood (Veteran Zoner) on Thursday, 25-Jul-2013 7:03:32

Also, swamp just came out with 2.9b and I heard that aprone is planning to do a bug fix.

Post 42 by rusty81 (Zone BBS is my Life) on Thursday, 25-Jul-2013 23:31:42

yup, and included in my link is the latest patch.

Post 43 by slipknotenraged (Generic Zoner) on Tuesday, 06-Aug-2013 16:35:37

swamp does sound awesome. but i will never get to try it unless i get a better computer. i checked it last monday and it's 636 mb and with my computer it may take 3 or 4 hours. but aprone has done well

Post 44 by Geemoney (Generic Zoner) on Sunday, 11-Aug-2013 6:22:59

ell, I play and my name is McLone12 but I must say the only thing I can comment on is the factthat I cant find any campaigns. I would love to try some

Post 45 by slipknotenraged (Generic Zoner) on Tuesday, 13-Aug-2013 15:01:00

i have swamp now. but when i try to connect on a multiplayer it takes ages over 5 minutes

Post 46 by maddog (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Wednesday, 14-Aug-2013 0:35:09

I too have been trying to find a community site or something similar where campaigns are posted, and have had no such luck. The information cannot be found on either the web page of the game, or the wiki page. I'll have to ask a few of the people I know that have time to frequent the game more than I do.

Post 47 by dalekood (Veteran Zoner) on Thursday, 15-Aug-2013 21:44:20

Try the audiogames forum under the swamp threads. Let us know if you find anything interesting

Post 48 by jessmonsilva (Taking over the boards, one topic at a time.) on Thursday, 12-Dec-2013 16:30:28

maddog, if I remember correctly, the campaigns aren't hosted on a site, they're hosted via a dropbox folder that basically a bunch of people have access to, or at least a good bunch of them are.
I love swamp, it's one of my favorite games and there has been some major updates for it recently, though nothing majorly huge. Mainly newer missions and the attempt to fix some of the more major bugs.

Post 49 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Sunday, 19-Jan-2014 17:10:28

Sorry to bring this topic back to the top, but I've had trouble getting swamp up and running on my 64-bit laptop. i follow the instructions in the readme file, but no luck. Any suggestions?

Post 50 by Smiling Sunshine (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Wednesday, 16-Apr-2014 17:00:08

Does anybody know if it'll work on Windows 8? A friend of mine showed it to me on his machine and I really really really really want to kill me some zombies.
Anyway, I've had a hard time downloading it because my downloads keep getting interrupted. I don't know what's up with that but that's another story. He copied his Swamp folder onto my computer but we couldn't get it to install. I also put it on my windows 7 machine but I got the same runtime errors.
Any advice???

Post 51 by HauntedReverie (doing the bad mango) on Wednesday, 16-Apr-2014 23:17:08

Hi, a couple things for those of you who aren't up to date on the Swamp audiogames thread.

Due to the increasing aggravation and enginuity of hackers, Aprone created Kaldobsky gamer accounts which cost 24 bucks a year. Now, regular multi player Swamp can only be accessed if you have a gamer account. blame the cheater bastards. the gamer account gets you access to all his games. (Maybe just the future ones, the current ones are probably still playable.)

that being said, you can still access Swamp in offline practice mode, as well as play campaigns. Swamp 3.2 is the latest version, so make sure you have that copy. I have a Windows 8, and play Swamp just fine! 3.2 comes with a checkup.exe file in the folder. Instead of going through all the BS of registering all the files, you can just run checkup.exe (potentially as administrator) and get everything registered hastle-free.

I've got a voice in Swamp, and have donated much money to Aprone. It's an awesome game, and I hope, now that he has the hackers under control, that he can get the bugs worked out and bring it to a stable close.

Post 52 by thezman (Veteran Zoner) on Tuesday, 06-Jan-2015 23:15:10

can you play swamp on audieo games.net?

Post 53 by Geemoney (Generic Zoner) on Sunday, 12-Apr-2015 5:05:13

Ok, one more update Swamp has now been updated to Swamp 3.5 and is now as stable as ever. The only issue you may have is actually getting the game, because when I was downloading the game I had to download about four times before I got a working file folder with everything in it. As far as not working with it anymore that was just his first comments, because he couldn't think of a way to iliminate hackers and cheaters. The gamer account is currently for two of his games and for any made in the future. The two that are available for online play are Swamp and Cast Aways.
